I am driving to school with my sister Mariah, and she is talking about this guy that she is totally in love with. She is saying that he has given her a kiss on the cheek and he told her that he'd call her. I don't mention that two super hot guys have been flirting with me and I am extremely happy about that. I don't say anything, and it's killing me because I want to tell her, but (even though I love my sister dearly) she can get freakishly jealous of other girls. Including me. And I don't want to be one of the other girls.
"...And then he put his hand on top of mine in the theater, and I moved mine so that we'd be in the position to hold hands..."
I am barely hearing a word that she's saying because I am off in my own world, thinking about Daniel and Jeremie. Mariah may think that she's the only girl that is lucky to get a guy, but man is she wrong.
"...So I said, 'Who do you think I am? Your slave girl?'"
"Man, some people's children." I say, trying to make it seem as if I've actually been listening.
"Yeah." She sighs. "Hey, you just missed, like, five parking spaces by the way."
"Oh, yeah, just seeing if you were awake."
"Yeah 'cause I wouldn't be, especially if I've been talking the whole way here." She says sarcastically.
"Yup, well sleep talking is a real thing."
I got her there, and I watch her as she try's to think of a good come back, but can't.
"Ha, ha! Got you stumped, didn't I?" I laugh.
She try's not to smile, but gives in. "Shut up."

When we walk into school, we usually go our separate ways to our own friends, but today she's not going over to her group. That's weird.
"Why aren't you going over to your friends like you usually do?" I ask.
"What, you trying to get rid of me?"
"No, it's just that you usually go over to your own friends when we get here. It's just an observation crazy younger sister."
"Well, maybe I just don't feel like going over there right now."
"Okay, no problem."
Hmm, that's weird. I think. She always ditches me the minute that we get to this school. There's something wrong here.
Once we're over by my friends, Melissa is the first one to notice Mariah's presence.
"Hey Mariah!" Melissa says. "It's been a while since I've seen you. How are you?"
"I'm pretty good." She says. And that's it. The conversation has ended. She's not acting like her usual happy, giddy self. Except for in the car. But other than that, she's acting super different. Something is wrong with her and her friends. I think.
"So have you seen the new movie 'Interface?'" Say's Elijah. He's tall, with jet black hair, and he's half black. He's pretty attractive. All of the girls like him. But I don't like him. Not like that. Just as a friend.
"No." Say's everyone.
"Ugh! What? That means that I can't talk about it. Well there's this one part where a guy is on a plane and-"
"Stop, Stop!" I say laughing. "So you say that you can't talk about it, yet you start talking about it?"
"Ugh! Whatever!"
"Ugh!" I say, teasing him.
He gives me a look, smiles a little, then looks away.
All of the sudden the bell rings, but me and Mariah linger behind a little to talk to Elijah.
"Okay, since you haven't seen 'Interface' I'm going to take you to see it this Friday, just to prove to you how awesome it is." He say's.
"Okay, but I'm buying the treats because you always get the really gross stuff."
"What? Like what? Give me one example."
"Okay. Redvines."
"Redvines? That is ridiculous."
"No, it is the truth. Those are nasty. Now we gotta go, or else we'll be late for our first period. See ya!" I call after him.
Me and Mariah begin walking the same direction (because our classes are the same direction I guess), and then Mariah say's, "I think that he likes you."
"Who? Elijah?"
"Uh, yeah!"
"Why would you say that?"
"Um, because of the way he was looking at you, flirting with you. Because of the way he asked you out."
"That is not a date. It's just two friends hanging out."
"In a movie, with snacks, dark place."
"Sooo?"
"So? He likes you. It's totally obvious. Just ask one of your friends and they would say yes to that."
"Mariah, he's one of my best friends. Not my boyfriend."
"Ugh, just ask them. Or wait for the movie if you don't believe me. But it's true."
"I don't know, but bye." I say, walking into Mr. Henderson's History class. I sit down, think about what she has just said, and I decide that I am going to talk to my other friends about this. Get some more feedback.

"Yup, that is true." Say's Maddie when we are sitting in Science.
"What?" I say.
"Why are you so shocked? It's so obvious. He's liked you since last year."
"Has he said that he did?"
"Well... not exactly. But it's so easy to tell though. The way he looks at you, the way he talks to you-"
"Ugh, you sound like my sister."
"Well then she's completely right."
"Hmm. I just can't wrap my head around it."
"Well I can, so you'll just have to deal with it."
"Ugh, whatever. Dork." I smile.
