Anna

CHAPTER THREE

"I'll be back in a little while dad." I said walking out of my hotel room and down the hall to the elevator.
When I pushed the down button waiting for it to be my turn I started to get impatient. I hate it when elevators take forever. Well actually not when elevators take forever, when people take forever.
When it finally came to my floor, and the sliding doors opened, and I looked up, there was still one more person in the elevator. And that was Conner. And he didn't look happy to see me.
As I awkwardly walked in he said without looking, "Up, or down?"
"Down." I replied.
"So, if it isn't Anna MacAlister," he said, now turning to me. "Where were yeh last night."
"Yeah, about that. If it seems like I stood you up but I didn't. You see my mom got sick, and me and my dad were taking care of her. I am so, so sorry though. I didn't expect that to happen."
"Yer mams sick yeh say? Yeah, with what?" He sounded angrier now.
"I don't know. No one will tell me, and that's what scares me the most." I almost felt like crying, but held it down. I can't cry in front of him.
But I guess he saw my near sob, and came over to me, and wraped his arms around me. "Shhh," He was saying. "It's okay. I'm the one who should appoligise. I understand that yeh just want to take care of yer mam." Now I really let it out, and just started crying. Getting all of my tears on his shirt. His arms tightend around me. And then I put my arms tightly around him. And I just held on.
Pretty soon it came to the main lobby and the doors opened and I wiped my tears away. When I looked at Conners shirt though, I knew that thoughs tears couldn't be easly wiped away. There was a puddle of my tears on his shirt.
I laughed a little. "Your shirt is all wet now from me."
"Ah, that's alright. It'll dry."
I smiled up at him and he smiled back.
"So, should we try last night again?" Conner said.
"Yes, I think we should."
"So The Halfway House?"
"The Halfway House."

"How can yeh possibly think that Matthew Goode looks like me?"
"Oh, come on. How can you not see it? You look just like him. And he is hot, so that should be a compliment to you." I said smiling feeling my face burning up.
"Okay, so then you look like, what's her name? Ah, Amy Adams?"
"Well I'm fine with that. Then we could be like the couple in Leap Year."
"Really?" He said, reaching over the table grabbing my hand. Then, out of nowhere, water was spilled all over me. I took in a breath because the water was so cold.
"Oh, I am so sorry Missus." A tall man said, pulling out a cloth from his apron. "I did not see you there."
"I'm going to go get some towels." Conner said walking away.
"So," The guy said. "Want to be a good lass, and leave this creap and come with me?"
"He's being the creap? I think I see it the other way around."
"Come. Me house is just around the corner."
"Sorry, but I'm with him."
"Well you don't have to be yeh know." He streched his hand out, and put it on mine.
"Okay, I think that you should just leave, because your freaking me out, just a little bit." I said pulling my hand away.
But then he grabbed it back and pulled me, so that my chest was touching the top of the table.
"Um, Conner. How long does it take to get towels?"
"Come on and give me a little kiss."
"How about she gives yeh a little bit of this." Conner said, finnally appearing, shoving the guy away. And pulling my hand out of his.
"Don't you shove me."
"Oh yeah, well what can I do then? Can I do this?" He said, punching him right in the face. The guy fell backwards unconsious.
"Come on let's go." Conner said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out of there.
When we were out side conner looked at me appoligetically. "Sorry about that." He said. "I guess I ruined that plan."
"No, no. It wasn't your fault. The guy was being a total jerk. You were just defending me."
"Yeah, I guess."
"Well should we do something else, so that our date is not a complete bust?"
"Yeah. I know a great place."
I smiled up at him. "What is it?"
"The greatness is even better if you don't know what it is."
"Oh, so it's a surprise?"
He just smiled. "Follow me." He grabbed my hand again, and took me up a hill, and we were out of sight.
